2017 ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standard Go Into Effect on October 1

Oct. 5, 2017 — The ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards help advance the science of radiology and improve the quality of service to patients. They promote the safe and effective use of diagnostic and therapeutic radiology by describing specific training, skills and techniques. Many of the documents present ACR positions on radiation safety issues. Each year during the ACR Annual Meeting, new and revised practice parameters and technical standards are reviewed and approved following ACR process.

The collaborative radiation oncology practice parameter for this year was approved by the Council Steering Committee and the Board of Chancellors, as was one medical physics technical standard. These two documents are available on the ACR website, with an effective date of August 1, 2017. The remainder of the 2017 practice parameters and technical standards adopted at ACR 2017 go into effect on October 1, 2017, and are now available on the ACR website. To see all of the current ACR Practice Parameters and Technical Standards, visit https://www.acr.org/Quality-Safety/Standards-Guidelines.
