AAPM Releases New Pediatric Chest and Abdomen/Pelvis CT Protocols

August 15, 2017The Alliance for Quality Computed Tomography (AQCT), an AAPM Working Group comprising academic and consulting medical physicists who specialize in CT imaging, representatives of each of the major CT scanner manufacturers, and liaisons to the American College of Radiology, American Society of Radiology Technologists, and the Food and Drug Administration, has recently released its new Routine Pediatric Chest CT and Routine Pediatric Abdomen and Pelvis CT protocols.

The Alliance members consider these protocols reasonable and task-appropriate, and the settings representative of typical clinical values, even though they may not always match default protocols. The protocols represent a sampling of currently available scanner models and are not intended to provide comprehensive information for all available scanner models.
